Something is always "split" by a force external to it. Even if you heat something and it splits it is because of the external energy being directed at it.
Because the man who coined the term "schizophrenia" which literally means "Split-mind" thought it was an improvement over the prior terminology.
So a billion people believe in Catholicism and Jesus Christ as their God. And Christ believed illness to be caused by demonic possession. It is fair to say that a demon was termed Satan and he also called Peter that!
So if you have a demon possessing a human mind in effect that mind is being split between the owner of that mind and the demon or demons. Jesus drove ~6 of them out of one person! And the person was healed!
"Swiss psychiatrist Eugen Bleuler (1857-1939) coined the term "schizophrenia" in 1908:
When
Bleuler introduced the term on April 24, 1908, during a lecture at a German Psychiatric Association meeting in Berlin"

So if anybody in the world can find a copy of Bleulers April 24th 1908 speech where he introduced the term please post it here!
So that term came about in 1908 and WW1 then came about in 1914. Is there a connection? I think so! Ask yourself who would get really edgy and nervous if an accurate name was giving to this affliction?
